A Vocal Dawn

This time our program is composed of religious and personal works, immersed in faith as well as existential questions.

ensemble:

Ralph Greis – Organ
Shahar Choir, directed by Gila Brill

program:

Duruflé – Requiem: A dramatic piece based on medieval Gregorian chants and drawing its inspiration from Faure's Requiem.
Barber – Agnus Dei: The famous Adagio for Strings in the composer's own arrangement for choir.
Britten – 'Hymn to St. Cecilia': A tormented, moving hymn composed to WH Auden's words.
Villa-Lobos – 'Bendita Sabedoria' and 'Praesepe': The first a profound, intense piece, whereas the second – the very embodiment of gentleness and serenity.

Following the concert it will be possible (at an additional fee) to join the guided walk 'Neighborhoods & Estates Outside the Old City Walls' - Mishkenot Sha'ananim, Yemin Moshe, Mahane Israel, Nahalat Shiv'ah and Beit David.
